We are committed to an ongoing and personal relationship with you.  This is something we value.  Our pharmacists are available to answer any questions or concerns you have about your medications.  We truly care about your health and well-being.

We are also committed to providing you with a competitive price on your compounded prescriptions.  We don’t accept any insurance reimbursement, and consequently our staff doesn’t have to spend valuable time and resources tracking down and resubmitting unpaid claims.  This cost-savings is passed directly to you as a lower out-of-pocket price.  If you live in California and would like a price quote, please give us a call.

Lastly, if you ever think that the service we are providing is less than your expectation, we want to know about it.  Call us.  We will do everything possible to make your ongoing experience with our pharmacy a pleasant one.

Refilling your prescription is easy.

  1. The easiest way  to refill your prescription is to simply call your refill request directly to our pharmacy.  Call 530-345-7979 or 1-866-586-4633 and speak with one of our staff.  If you call after hours, please leave your name, prescription refill number (located above your name on your prescription bottle), and the best contact phone number and we will return your call the next business day.
  2. You can also order a refill by clicking on the following refill link:  Prescription Refill Form   You will receive a follow-up call from our office within 2 business days.

Everything we make is a unique, customized medication just for you.  For new prescriptions, we always call you first to verify that you actually want the prescription.  Sometimes prescribers will send us new prescriptions, and then it turns out the patient, for whatever reason, decides they don’t want to start the therapy at that time, or they opt to get a second opinion.  If we made the compound without checking with you first, we would likely end up throwing it away, because it couldn’t be used for any other person.  This is unlike prescriptions filled at a regular pharmacy, where if you decide you don’t want the prescription, the pharmacy can return the medication to stock and use it for another person.  We just think this makes good business sense.

Individual States usually require that a pharmacy be licensed to practice in that state if you plan on shipping medication into it.  The cost of obtaining a license in all 50 states for a small pharmacy like ours is cost-prohibitive.  Mail-order pharmacies, which operate on a much larger scale, typically have licensure in all states.  Apothecary Options is only licensed in California.  We can ship to California addresses.

For Controlled Substances, there are specific Federal and State rules regarding refill limitations, and maximum quantities which can be dispensed (days supply) each time.  Prescriptions containing controlled substances (e.g. Testosterone) are only valid for 6 months from the date written (this is unlike non-controlled prescriptions which are valid for 1 year from the date written).  Regardless of the number of refills that your prescriber has authorized, a new prescription for a controlled substance must be approved every 6 months.   Additionally, the maximum quantity that can be dispensed at a single dispensing is a 120-day supply.  A 120-day supply cannot be refilled (because it would then exceed the 6 month expiration date of the original prescription).  If your prescriber has authorized refills for you, we will usually suggest that you get a 90-day supply, and then we can give you one additional refill – that way you can maximize your prescription and refills, and the total supply does not exceed 6 months.   For non-controlled drugs, your refills are valid for up to one year.  If you need further clarification, please contact our office.
